En Février 2003 un étrange visiteur inattendu arrive dans les bureaux du label Peppermint Jam à Hanovre en Allemagne, pour présenter son projet d’album. Ce dernier a voyagé deux jours entiers en auto-stop de Paris, affamé, rempli d'espoir et extrement humble avec toute sa vie dans un "petit sac Rouge".
Il rencontre dans un premier temps Errol Rennalls (le Directeur Artistique) puis Mousse T (producteur) et Wolfgang Sick du département juridique du label !

Et seulement trois heures plus tard , Peppermint Jam signe cet artiste prometteur:
JAMES KAKANDE.
Né à Manchester en Angleterre il grandit à Wolverhampton. Sa première aventure musicale l'a fait renvoyer de l'école à 13 ans pour avoir essayé de voler le piano en plein jour.Après cet incident sa mère décide de lui acheter une guitare qu'elle lui  jette quelques jours plus tard à la figure, pour tout ce qu'il lui fit endurer.

La détermination a un prix et James, à l'aube de ce qui va devenir une carrière époustouflante, est décidé à payer ce prix, avec une musique aussi habile que sauvage.
L'album est riche, poétique et authentique. Sa voix est douce et chaude à la fois.
Il est passé maître des lyrics poétiques, dessinant de véritables tableaux avec ses mots et utilisant sa propre expérience comme musicien venu de la rue.

Ses performances "Live" sont pleines de charme, d'ouverture d'esprit et d'originalité, plus que tout James est un bol d'air frais dans le Monde de la musique d'aujourd'hui !
C’est la raison pour laquelle James captive l'attention du public est amène ce mélange si particulier de différents courants et cultures musicaux, de Styles et de goûts.

Le titre de l'album "My Little Red Bag" est dédié au petit sac rouge symbole de sa réussite avec lequel il est arrivé à Hanovre et qu'il présente si fièrement en concert.
L'album est riche, poétique et authentique. Il est passé maître des lyrics poétiques, dessinant de véritables tableaux avec ses mots et utilisant sa propre expérience comme musicien venu de la rue.

Produit par James ,Nils Ruzicka et Stavros Ionnou de Peppermint Park, cet album de 16 titres masterisé par le mythique ingenieur du son Brian « Big Bass » Gardner  a Hollywood (MichaelJackson,Madonna,Eminem,Christina Aguilera ou Gwen Stefani……..) contient d'excitants et entrainants titres mélangeant Reggae, Soul, Jazz-Groove et Funk.

"You, You, You", est le  premier single de son album ,il a été utilisé pour l'hymne Officiel de l'équipe de football de Trinidad & Tobago pendant la coupe du Monde. Un titre Reggae-pop parfait pour l'été ! Il a déjà atteint le Top 20 des ventes en Italie et en Allemagne. (n°1 des radios en Italie)

Les musiciens qui l'entourent ne sont pas a leurs premiers coups d'essai. Son guitariste Gabriel Gordon a fait les premières parties de Keziah Jones, Norah Jones, George Benson ou encore Bob Dylan !
Quand au bassiste Fontaine Burnett, il  a joué avec les plus grands du  funk comme Chaka-khan ou The Temptations.
